Sububurban Electronics
Suburban Electronics was founded in 1976 out of a need for employment
in a rather bad job environment. My cousin mentioned that there were no decent electronics repair shops in our area that catered exclusively to the working Musician.
Suburban Electronics started business with Good Quality work at a reasonable price
in a reasonable amount of time. It operated successfully on that basis for 12 years.
During that time I had the pleasure of meeting a great number of Musicians, had alot
of good times, heard alot of good music and repaired one heck of alot of equipment.
Custom work encompassed a large part of the Services offered at Suburban Electronics.
Most Musicians needed modifications to their equipment, or custom add-ons fabricated.
We also did some PA System installations on halls
During the years, Suburban completed many impressive creations.
Some pictures of these can be seen here.
Suburban Electronics also offered it's own Product line.
Chaser products were widely sold locally, with the bulk of the sales being in guitar cords.
Using special techniques, these cords were individually hand crafted in our shop.
They were a little more expensive than some but had a proven reputaion
for reliability over the 'long haul.'
They were sold locally but ended up in 3 countries (that I know of.)
We also made Light controllers, switch boxes, splitters, effects, a marching band amplifier (2 car battery powered), a scale sized power bottom for a 54 key Rhodes, Cord Testers, LED style VU meters, Foot switches, A-B switches, wireless alarm systems, amplifiers, mixers, a kid's fire engine (pedal car) complete with pa system, turn signals, lites, siren, and a padded seat; and finally a robot. The robot was a special order from a customer, and came to be known as 'Cynthia Sizer'. She had a black cape and a built in color organ. Dryer Vent arms, two litre Pepsi bottle legs, and Black leather boots. All she did was light up in time with the music, but it sure was neat.
Suburban Electronics now caters to a few select clients for development of special solutions.
